The Central Hotel was firing on all cylinders over the King’s Birthday long weekend, playing host to a massive turnout for the Lakes Entrance Country Cruise Hot Rods while simultaneously freezing for a cause.

Alongside the engine roars and classic cars, the venue coordinated a major three-day Big Freeze fundraiser to raise money for FightMND, held in honour of a respected local community member.

The charity drive proved to be a spectacular success, with generous patrons and participants chipping in to raise approximately $4500 over the course of the long weekend.

The undeniable highlight of the festivities was the ice bucket dunk tank, which saw a lineup of prominent local figures, community leaders and hotel staff brave the freezing waters after being nominated to take the plunge.

Patrons pack out the Central Hotel car park to support the venue’s Big Freeze fundraiser.

Among those who volunteered to be dunked for the cause were Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester, Central Hotel proprietor Tyson Murphy, hotel manager Kyle McDonald, and bar manager Trudy Reeves.

They were joined in the icy hot seat by popular local identity Kevin “Tadpole” Cummins, Lakes Entrance Lions Club representative Wayne Boyes, and Simon Cox representing the Lakes Entrance Football Netball Club.

Management at the Central Hotel extended their heartfelt thanks to the hot rod drivers, patrons, volunteers and brave participants who rallied together over the three days to generate such an impressive fundraising total for Motor Neurone Disease research.

Hot rod enthusiasts and community members filled the Central Hotel precinct as part of the Lakes Entrance Country Cruise over the King’s Birthday long weekend. The venue fired on all cylinders, combining the classic car display with a highly successful local fundraiser.
