Bairnsdale Field Archers was proudly represented by three members at the Victorian State IFAA Championships, held at the Geelong Trophy Bowhunters grounds on June 6-7.
The championship was hosted on a spectacular rainforest course featuring challenging shooting lanes across creeks, valleys, and fern-filled gullies, alongside numerous steep uphill and downhill shots. It was a demanding but rewarding course that tested competitors across both the hunter and field rounds.
David Hattam contested the “A” grade freestyle limited recurve division, shooting a personal best hunter and overall score to be crowned Victorian State Champion after winning by a dominant 57 points.
Charlotte Veness competed in the “A” grade bowhunter compound section, claiming the Victorian State Champion title in her division with an unbeaten performance across the two days of competition.
Zoe Stanford shot personal bests in both the hunter and field events in the “C” grade bowhunter recurve division. Finishing the weekend with all of her arrows intact, Stanford earned a well-deserved second-place medal.
The Bairnsdale contingent was small compared to some of the metropolitan clubs at the event, but what it lacked in numbers, it more than made up for in silverware.
