Catholic College Sale has secured a major sporting achievement, with three tennis teams progressing to the State Finals following strong results at last week’s School Sport Victoria Regional Finals in Traralgon.
The year eight boys, year seven boys and year seven girls teams all finished top of their respective round-robin competitions to qualify for the November state decider.
The year eight boys team of Henry Grattan, Ted Crouch, Tom Brand and Ed Bertino produced a particularly dramatic result, with their qualification coming down to the final singles match of the day. After finishing level on games with Marist-Sion College, the CCS side advanced on countback.
The year seven girls team of Kailin Smith, Georgia Foat, Lexie Bennett, Jess Lund and Jessika Wells also impressed, while the year seven boys combination of Harper Grattan, Isaac Lazzaro, Zach Ingram and Charlie McKinley rounded out a clean sweep of top finishes for the school.
CCS also fielded a year 9/10 Girls team, which performed strongly but narrowly missed qualification in a tightly contested division.
Across all teams, the school praised the students’ conduct on and off the court, highlighting their consistent sportsmanship and professionalism throughout the tournament.
