Visitors to Lake Tyers State Park are being advised of upcoming changes to vehicle access at Cameron’s Arm Track No. 2.
From late May onwards, the track will be accessible only to park management vehicles.
Parks Victoria will install gates and signage at the Lake Tyers House Road intersection as part of the ongoing implementation of the Lake Tyers State Park Camping and Access Strategy.
The change formalises the track’s ongoing role as a management access route, with authorised ranger and operational vehicles continuing to use the area where needed.
There are no formal campsites, visitor facilities or through-access arrangements along Cameron’s Arm Track No. 2, and the change will not affect access to other visitor areas within Lake Tyers State Park.
Parks Victoria area chief ranger Michael Treanor said the works were about providing clarity around park access arrangements while supporting long-term management of the area.
“This change implements an action identified through the Lake Tyers State Park Camping and Access Strategy and helps ensure vehicle access within the park is sustainable and appropriately managed into the future,” Mr Treanor said.
“The broader visitor experience across Lake Tyers State Park will remain unchanged, with visitors continuing to have access to the park’s camping, boating, fishing and recreation opportunities.”
The Lake Tyers State Park Camping and Access Strategy was developed through extensive consultation with Traditional Owners, local community members and key stakeholders and provides a long-term framework for managing access and visitor use across the park.
Lake Tyers State Park is jointly managed by Parks Victoria and the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC). Visitors are encouraged to check the Parks website.
