Evans leads competitive parkrun

Last week's Lakes Entrance parkrun was supported by the efforts of volunteers Glynn Riseley, Jenny De Freitas, Lynne Olinsky Jones, Suzanne Spicer, David Salisbury, Rachel Salisbury, Janet Ball and Ashly Knur. (PS)

Adam Evans led home last Saturday’s edition of the Lakes Entrance parkrun, which attracted 58 enthusiastic participants. Evans completed the five-kilometre course along the picturesque esplanade in 17 minutes and 57 seconds.

Emily Scott (22.55) was the first female across the line, with participants taking on the course for a range of reasons, including fitness, fun and camaraderie. In total, eight personal bests were recorded, alongside 15 first-time attendees.

Runners to achieve new personal bests included Matthew Evans (22.42), Ann Marie Darcy (24.08), James Murphy (24.55), Jethro Clifford (26.34), Ashlie Weeks (28.08), Kelly Smits (29.38), Debbie Cupitt (36.24) and Chris Gilbert (37.54).

Participants represented six clubs, including Lakes and District Runners, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Everlasting Fitness Runners, Run The World, Hills Happy Hoofers, Townsville Hash House Harriers and Australia Post Group.

Lakes Entrance parkrun departs from the Rotunda at 8am every Saturday, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities. The weekly event continues to attract both locals and visitors, offering a social and inclusive way to stay active and connected.Jenny Wagstaff was all smiles after completing her 50th parkrun last Saturday.
