It has been another big week of golf at Lakes Entrance Golf Club, with strong scores recorded across both member and guest competitions.
The Young and the Rest of Us group proved popular once again, with 13 players taking to the fairways. Consistent performer Karen Nicholas led the way with a plus-two round.
Tuesday’s Ruthless and Toothless men’s competition continues to attract strong numbers, with 34 participants this week.
Stuart Symes claimed “A” grade honours with a score of 31, while Ronnie Baldock matched that effort to take out “B” grade.
Symes also starred on the greens, recording just 13 putts for the round. Trevor Renfree did not leave empty-handed, collecting the much sought-after NAGA award.
Wednesday’s medley stableford field again exceeded expectations, with 41 players competing. Archie Shearing from Moe Golf Club took out both “B” grade and the overall win with an excellent 40 points.
Club champion Renee Percival claimed “A” grade with 35 points after another steady and consistent round, while Betty Martino continued her strong form to secure “C” grade with 39 points.
Thursday’s medley stableford attracted 93 players, producing another busy day on the course. Allan Lawson set the benchmark early, with his 41 points proving unbeatable and securing “D” grade and the overall win.
Club president David Smythe produced a strong round off a low handicap to win “A” grade with 37 points, while Neil McKenna claimed “B” grade with 38 points.
Greg Hayes returned to form in style to take out “C” grade with 39 points.
Saturday’s medley stableford saw Marg Ellis claim “D” grade and the overall win with an excellent 40 points. Rob Sperring edged out the field in “A” grade with 35 points, while left-hander Mark Jackson produced a polished round to win “B” grade with 36 points.
Not to be outdone by his wife Karen, Peter Nicholas also enjoyed success, taking out “C” grade with 39 points.
