Lakes Entrance has continued its outstanding start to the East Gippsland Football Netball League reserves season with an emphatic victory over Lucknow at Lakeside Oval.
Under the guidance of Ben Rotheram, the Seagulls have now won four of their five matches and sit second on the ladder behind their only conqueror of the 2026 season, Boisdale-Briagolong.
Lakes Entrance kicked six goals to one in the opening term on the way to an impressive 115-point win. The lead stretched to 78 points by half-time, with inaccurate kicking in front of goal (19.21) preventing the margin from blowing out beyond 20 goals.
Up forward, Noah Bottom booted six goals and Reginald Saunders added five, benefiting from the strong midfield work of Brendan Bassett, Rydah Davy and Patrick Halford.
Bassett continues to enjoy a rich vein of form and appears ready for a senior call-up when required, likely slotting seamlessly across half-back.
Brayden Baade also impressed with his height and strength across half-back, producing his best performance since returning from Swan Reach.
In the thirds, the reigning premier Seagulls bounced back strongly after last week’s disappointing loss to arch rival Lindenow.
With a point to prove, Lakes Entrance overwhelmed the previously unbeaten Lucknow by 82 points to consolidate third position on the ladder.
The victory was set up by seven unanswered first-half goals, with the Magpies struggling to convert and not kicking their first major until the third term after managing 1.11 early in the contest.
Archer Connally and Oscar Hopkins each finished with three goals, while Kye Piper and Leroy Hayes added two apiece.
Among the Seagulls’ best were Xavier Pepper, Cooper Linn, Aiden Wealands, Hayes, Riley Jenkins and Harper Davis.
Lakes Entrance will travel to AJ Freeman Reserve this week to take on Paynesville.
