Bairnsdale Inner Wheel Club laced up their runners on Monday for the annual walk at Nicholson to aid Cord Blood Research, with members turning out to support the work scientists are undertaking in the use of Cord Blood to aid very ill patients in the treatment of cancer and other diseases.
Kicking off from Station Walk Gate adjacent to East Gippsland Rail Trail at 9.30am, walkers were offered options of two delightful walks.
Members welcomed all who had an interest in joining them to assist in raising awareness of this worthy project and the importance of ongoing scientific research.
The club was delighted to have guest speaker Meg West, Education Officer from East Gippsland Shire Waste Management Department to give informative insight into the advances currently made in recycling of items, saving them from landfill.
A pamphlet circulated showed where household items can be taken to be recycled together with valuable online information via East Gippsland Shire Website which indicates the variety of items which can be recycled and those that can’t.
