Stratford and District Angling Club members were among the keen anglers at their recent annual weekend trip to Hollands Landing.

Twelve members attended across the weekend, with most staying Saturday night, and the club was pleased to welcome a new member to the group.

Friday’s conditions were close to unfishable, with much of the day spent around the clubhouse keeping the fire going. Once conditions eased, fish became more active for those able to locate them across Saturday and Sunday.

By the end of day two, the leaders had emerged as William Toseland (junior bream, 36cm) and Matt White (senior bream, 42cm). Darren Clutterbuck and White had a standout session, landing around 50 fish between them in a catch-and-release effort.

Other anglers also found consistent action, though most were unable to secure fish large enough to challenge the leaderboard, with fresh bait proving the key.

Fishing continued strongly into day three, with further catch-and-release sessions before the weekend wrapped up with a barbecue lunch and presentations.

William Toseland was confirmed as junior winner, while White edged further ahead in the senior section by half a centimetre. He finished just in front of Paul Mewha (42cm bream) and Clutterbuck (41.5cm bream).

Stratford and District Angling Club president, Dave Shaw, was tickled pink to land this nice bream recently at Hollands Landing. (PS)
