Local youngster Charlie Darcy led home the weekly Lakes Entrance parkrun last Saturday morning along
the Esplanade.
The picturesque five-kilometre course attracted 46
participants, with Darcy
crossing the line in 20 minutes and 13 seconds. People took to the course for a variety of reasons, including fitness, fun and camaraderie.
In total, six personal bests were recorded, alongside seven first-time attendees. Among the personal bests was first female over the line Lauren Hemingway (21.49), the culmination of a consistent run of form.
Other runners to achieve new personal bests included Matthew Evans (22.42),
Emily Hemingway (27.23), Ellie Darcy (28.30), Melina Perera (37.37) and Debbie Cupitt (37.46).
Participants represented six clubs, including Lakes and District Runners, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Everlasting Fitness Runners, Peninsula Trail Runners, Carine DarkRun and
Australia Post Group.
Lakes Entrance parkrun departs from the Rotunda at 8am every Saturday, welcoming participants of all ages
and abilities.
The weekly event continues to attract both locals and visitors, offering a social and inclusive way to stay active and connected.
