The junior Seagulls made the trek east last Sunday to take on traditional rival Orbost Snowy Rovers in round five of the East Gippsland Junior Football Association (EGJFA) at Lochiel Park, emerging
as comfortable winners in both fixtures.
The under 13s continue to occupy second spot on the ladder, and Sunday’s result was never in doubt after they kicked four unanswered goals in the opening quarter on the way to a five-goal victory.
Sunny Eiseman and Jacob Spiker worked hard inside the forward 50, finishing with three goals each, while the consistent John Sowden again impressed with two majors.
The half-back line worked tirelessly and was almost impassable, restricting the home side to just one goal, which would have pleased the coaching staff.
Strong contributors were plentiful for the Seagulls, with coaches particularly impressed by Eiseman, Spiker, Kobi Caldwell, Michael Sowden, John Sowden and Jake Christison.
The Lakes Entrance under 15s were equally impressive, keeping the Blues goalless in the first half and, despite conceding some late goals, still running out emphatic 50-point winners.
In a similar position to
the under 13s, they sit second on the ladder, trailing round one nemesis
Wy Yung, which continues to set the benchmark in the
EGJFA competition.
Lakes Entrance will host Lucknow this Sunday at Lakeside Oval, starting with the under 11 match at 10.30am. The under 13 fixture starts at 11.30am, with the under 15s to round out the day with a
1pm kick-off.
