Regular Bairnsdale parkrun participant Cain Lestrange switched venues last Saturday and recorded an impressive personal best at the Lakes Entrance event.
Lestrange, who had led the field home in the previous three editions of the Bairnsdale parkrun, completed the scenic five-kilometre Lakes Entrance course in 17 minutes and 49 seconds.
The pace at the front was strong, with placegetters Adam Evans (17.51) and Blade Baxter (17.54) also recording new personal bests.
The first female finisher, Lauren Hemingway (21.51), also achieved a personal best time.
This week’s event attracted 52 participants, who took to the course for fitness, fun and camaraderie. In total, seven personal bests were recorded, alongside nine first-time attendees.
Other runners to achieve new personal bests included Lisa McGregor (24.47), Dan Costigan (23.18) and Chris Gilbert (38.11).
Participants represented four clubs, including Lakes and District Runners, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Everlasting Fitness Runners and Australia Post Group.
Lakes Entrance parkrun departs from the Rotunda at 8am every Saturday, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities.
The weekly event continues to attract both locals and visitors, offering a social and inclusive way to stay active and connected.
