A superb round of seven under, saw Allen McKenna take out the men’s monthly medal at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club last Saturday.
Playing in “C” grade, McKenna held off 98 other challengers to take the event by two shots from “B” grade victor, Mitchell Naylor, who took his grade victory on countback from ladies pin winner, Katrina Fearnley.
The long hitting Brett Stokes took “A” grade with a score of three under, with Betty Martino continuing her good run of form to capture “D” grade.
The other big event of the week was the ladies foursomes on Wednesday, which saw Di Dickson and Renee Percival winners in division one and Sue Wilson and Marlene Holmes take division two.
Garry Jeal held off a small field to win the men’s stableford event played that day.
Thursday’s men’s event went the way of “A” grade player, Dean Grining on countback from “B” grader, Brad Hay, with Garry O’Neill out early and taking “C” grade.
As is the norm, Tuesday golf is particular competitive on the scoreboard, with Young and the Rest of Us , won by Karen Nicholas on countback from Ruth McPhee.
