It might only be May, but the big announcements have already begun in the Bairnsdale Cricket Association, with Lakes Entrance Cricket Club confirming a major appointment ahead of the Bairnsdale Cricket Association 2026/27 season.
The Seagulls have announced Scott Davidson as their new captain-coach, bringing one of the competition’s most accomplished recent players into a key leadership role.
The Lindenow South Glenaladale premiership player is a three-time winner of the Bairnsdale Cricket Association “A” grade Cricketer of the Year award, including the 2025/26 season. Renowned as a fierce competitor capable of influencing matches with both bat and ball, Davidson is expected to play a central role in shaping the club’s direction on and off the field.
Lakes Entrance officials said his appointment brings both experience and expectation, with the club hoping he can instil the same winning culture he has been part of throughout his career.
Davidson’s connection to the Seagulls also runs deep. The club’s current champion player award is named after his uncle, life member Lindsay “Snow” Davidson, a 10-time recipient of the honour, adding a strong family link to his arrival.
Now based at Lake Tyers Beach, Davidson is highly regarded across the region for his leadership and consistency, and has expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to take on the role.
With a new era set to begin, Lakes Entrance will be looking to build on its strong foundations under fresh leadership as preparations continue for the upcoming seasons.
