The Bowls Victoria City v Country event was played on the weekend at the South Bendigo Bowls Club, featuring 64 of the state’s top male and female bowlers.
Among those selected and representing the Gippsland Bowls Region with distinction is Lakes Entrance bowler Joanne Martin.
The two-day series serves as a premier selection trial for Victorian state sides, showcasing elite competition and determining bragging rights between metropolitan and regional representatives.
Matches featured six men’s rinks and four women’s rinks, with state selectors in attendance to assess talent and help determine future representative squads.
Victorian Country dominated the woman’s series, winning 92-75, 91-61 and 97-73.
Martin was successful in two of her three matches on debut, winning 23-20 and 21-18, only losing in the first test, 24-20.
The State team will be named in the coming weeks.
