In association with Metung Lions Club, Metung Primary School students have completed a new panel of eight paintings now on permanent display at the Metung Lions shed on Metung Road.
The works were created under the guidance of art teacher Clare Edwards and replace a similar student project installed in 2013. Some of those earlier student artists still maintain connections with the local community.
The project is designed to become an ongoing collaboration between the school and the Lions Club, with plans for each year’s senior students to contribute a new panel of artworks. Over time, five panels will be installed at the shed, creating a growing public display for the community and
visitors to enjoy.
The initiative has developed under the
leadership of Metung Primary School principal Jim Allen and Metung Lions Club
president Ian Gale, with ongoing support from Ms Edwards.
Metung Lions Club secretary Malcolm Reed acknowledged the contributions of all involved in bringing the project to fruition.
