Lakes Entrance continues to benefit from more than $25 million in local infrastructure investment over recent years, with community advocacy playing a key role in securing major upgrades across the town.
The Lakes Entrance and District Area Development Association has released an infrastructure
update noting the significant contribution of its Infrastructure Subcommittee between 2018 and 2025, working alongside East Gippsland Shire Council and local Federal Member Darren Chester to advocate for key projects.
Completed works during that period include upgrades to the Esplanade, foreshore, Bullock Island and Marine Parade, as well as delivery of the foreshore playground, Kalimna lookout, Slipway transformation, improvements to The Entrance and Jemmy’s Point walk, and the first stage of the Krauatungalung Walk.
Funding was also secured for planning and design of a future sports stadium near the Aquadome, and further development of the Krauatungalung Walk linking the foreshore to Eastern Beach along Cunninghame Arm.
LEADA said the work has helped shape the modern Lakes Entrance, and acknowledged the contribution of those involved in driving outcomes for the community.
While the original Infrastructure Subcommittee has not met since September 2025, LEADA said infrastructure remains a key priority and there is value in re-establishing a dedicated group to continue
advocacy and planning.
The organisation noted that important groundwork has already been completed through the Infrastructure Priorities Survey and feedback provided to council, forming a foundation for future projects.
Key future opportunities identified include completion of the Krauatungalung Walk, ongoing advocacy for a proposed sports stadium, and continued consideration of the Palmers Road site for long-term civic, cultural, recreational and emergency services use.
LEADA’s Walks and Trails Committee remains active, continuing to support and promote
walking and trail initiatives across the region.
LEADA is now encouraging community members with local knowledge, professional expertise or an interest in the town’s future to become involved in a refreshed Infrastructure Subcommittee.
The organisation said continued collaboration will be essential to maintaining momentum and ensuring priority projects for Lakes Entrance progress into the future.
