Lakes Entrance Ambulance Victoria Auxiliary President Avis Salisbury has been inducted into the Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) Women in Ambulance Honour Roll, recognising her leadership, service and commitment to her local community.
The Honour Roll celebrates the contributions of women across ambulance services nationwide, highlighting dedication, resilience and leadership within the sector.
Ms Salisbury has led the Lakes Entrance auxiliary since 2022, stepping into the role at a time when recruitment challenges placed the group at risk of closing. Under her guidance, the auxiliary has since grown into a strong and active community organisation, delivering regular fundraising events, building local partnerships and supporting projects across East Gippsland, including automated external defibrillator (AED) awareness initiatives.
She said the recognition was both humbling and shared with others in the sector.
“It’s the biggest honour to be part of the Honour Roll beside so many other remarkable ladies doing great things for Ambulance Victoria and their communities,” Ms Salisbury said.
“It’s inspiring to hear what they have achieved in their respective roles, and I feel proud to have my work celebrated alongside theirs.”
Ambulance Victoria auxiliaries play a key role in supporting local branches by helping fund equipment, promoting education and raising awareness of emergency services within their communities.
Ms Salisbury said the Lakes Entrance group is now looking to expand its membership and is encouraging new volunteers to get involved.
“Volunteering with an ambulance auxiliary offers new challenges, a strong sense of purpose and real involvement in the community,” she said.
“It’s a great way to make a positive change to our local area while also helping our ambulance service to be the best it can be.”
Ms Salisbury was the only auxiliary representative among six Victorian women inducted into the Honour Roll this year, alongside Vikki Couper, Connie Molinaro, Tania Northey, Kirsten Mitchell and Bianca Wilkie.
