The broom was out at Bairnsdale City Oval last Saturday, with Bairnsdale completing a clean sweep of Warragul in round four of Gippsland League netball.
It was a strong reward for early-season work and the continued development across all grades under the coaching panel.
In “A” grade assistant coach Alison Dwyer was recognised as Gippsland League Player of the Month for April before the match, while Sophie Scott also celebrated her 100th club game. The Redlegs started strongly, with the defence restricting Warragul to just three goals in the opening term while Anna Mooney (44 goals) and Sally Deller (10) dominated in attack. Bairnsdale had opened a commanding lead by quarter time.
Warragul improved in the second term, but with Deller moving into defence and Mia Ballinger entering the game seamlessly, the Redlegs continued to control proceedings, running out 64–34 winners.
Mooney and Paris Dunkley were among the standouts as Bairnsdale moved to second on the ladder, still unbeaten.
In “B” grade, Bairnsdale secured its first win of the season, highlighted by Brielle Malady’s milestone 100th game where she was best on court with a dominant defensive display. The Redlegs were composed across the court in a 69–33 victory, with Rahni O’Connor and Liv Pearson providing strong support.
In “C” grade, Annora Virgo produced a 43-goal shooting masterclass to set up a dominant 67–18 win. Ali Banson was strong in defence, with a well-rounded team performance across all positions.
The under 17s also impressed with a 60–15 win, showing depth as three players stepped up from the under 15s. Ava Langley and Emme Hadden led a disciplined and cohesive performance.
The under 15s continued their strong form with a 76–10 win, with shooters Macy Brodribb, Tulli McLeod and Roxi Jackson all converting at over 80 per cent, well supported by accurate midcourt delivery. Lily Preston was strong in defence.
The under 13s opened the day with a 55–5 victory, with Bella Brodribb accurate in attack, Quinn Soulsby prominent through the midcourt, and Stella Anderson outstanding defensively.
Bairnsdale now heads to Wonthaggi for its next round fixture.
