Lakes Entrance recorded a pair of impressive wins
in round two of the East Gippsland Junior Football Association at the Lakes Entrance Recreation Reserve last Sunday.
The under 13s notched their second victory of the season, breaking clear of a persistent Bairnsdale Redlegs outfit in the final term. In a low-scoring, hard-fought contest, less than a goal separated the sides across the opening three quarters. The Seagulls led by five points at quarter-time, trailed by a point at half
time, before scores were level at the final break.
With the game on the line, Lakes Entrance lifted its intensity and dominated across the ground. The half back line was particularly effective, holding the Redlegs scoreless, while Sunny Eiseman (four goals) led the charge up forward. The Seagulls kicked four unanswered goals to secure a 25-point win, highlighting their potential when at full strength. John Sowden (two), Callum Yates, Brodie Darcy, Jude Campisi, Kobi Caldwell and Oliver Robertson all impressed across
four quarters.
In the under 15s, the Seagulls produced a clinical performance, setting up victory with a dominant six-goal-to-one opening term. Holding a 54-point lead at half time, Lakes Entrance went on to record a comfortable 50-point win. Jeremy Rotheram (three), Lochie Yates (four), Cooper Kennedy (three), Jack Hayllar, Oliver Jenkins and Cohen Kleinitz were among the standout performers.
Lakes Entrance will host Lindenow this Sunday for another round of junior football, with the under 11s scheduled to begin at 10.30am.
