Lakes Entrance Neighbourhood House (LENH) will be able to improve its storage facilities following a joint donation from the Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance and ExxonMobil.
The contribution will fund refurbishment works aimed at better supporting the organisation’s growing workload, which staff say has increased alongside rising demand for community assistance.
LENH manager Gayle Webster said the organisation was finding it increasingly challenging to meet community need.
“It is always a challenging task to support the disadvantaged members of the local community, especially with the recent growth in demand,” she said.
“This increased demand has resulted in the need to carry out some refurbishments to storage facilities, so that the additional workload for our team can be efficiently managed.”
Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance president Bernard Abrecht formally presented the donation this week, saying the support reflected the importance of the organisation to the local community.
“We are fortunate to have this wonderful facility in Lakes Entrance, and Lakes Entrance Neighbourhood House deserves the support of the community,” he said.
Ms Webster said the funding would directly benefit the organisation’s volunteers, who play a key role in preparing and distributing food and essential goods each week.
“Our dedicated team of volunteers work hard to meet the needs of the disadvantaged,” she said.
“Many members of this unpaid workforce arrive every week to help us in the preparation and distribution of goods, and these refurbishments will help us greatly.”
The upgrade is expected to improve efficiency on site and support LENH’s ongoing efforts to respond to increasing community need.
