Construction has begun on a road safety upgrade for Church Street in Lakes Entrance, with works expected to continue through to August.
The project is aimed at improving safety and accessibility along the busy street, particularly for pedestrians.
Key features of the upgrade include two raised pedestrian crossings near Bulmer and Mechanics streets, improved street lighting and new flashing crossing lights at the Mechanics Street crossing.
The works are funded by the Transport Accident Commission and are being delivered by contractor Fulton Hogan. Site preparation is currently underway, with construction scheduling being finalised.
Some disruption to traffic and pedestrians is expected during the works period, however efforts will be made to minimise impacts.
The project complements nearby upgrades on Marine Parade, where Stage 2 works are focusing on improving the Barkes Avenue intersection to enhance traffic flow and safety in the area.
The combined projects are part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and connectivity within Lakes Entrance.
