The Bruthen community is invited to pull up a chair and pour a cuppa for a cause on Thursday, May 21, as the town hosts its edition of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
Held at the Bruthen Mechanics Hall from 10.30am to noon, the event is part of a massive national effort to support the Cancer Council’s work in research, prevention, and support services. Since the initiative launched over three decades ago, it has grown into a powerhouse of community fundraising, raising over $14.6 million in 2023 alone.
This year’s local gathering offers more than just a caffeine hit. For a $10 donation at the door, attendees can enjoy a sophisticated high tea and test their knowledge with a round of trivia.
Adding a local twist to the fundraising efforts, the morning will also support Bruthen’s entry in the Cancer Council Winter Shitbox Rally, a gruelling mechanical challenge that sees participants drive budget vehicles across the country to raise vital funds.
Whether you’re there for the scones, the trivia, or the chance to catch up with neighbors, every dollar raised helps move the needle on cancer support.
