A young East Gippsland tennis player has capped off a strong season with a hard-earned grand final victory in the Wellington Gippsland Tennis Association.
Eleven-year-old Tyler Tomlinson, from the Bairnsdale Christian College, was part of the premiership-winning team in the Section 5 Rodionova age group, finishing the season on a high after months of competition across multiple divisions within the association.
The grand final win was particularly satisfying for Tyler and his teammates, having overcome a side they had previously been unable to beat.
“I was really happy to win my tennis final,” Tyler said.
“We did lots of practice, and it felt like a big sense of achievement in the end. We didn’t think we would win, but we did.”
Family and coaches praised Tyler’s commitment, teamwork and persistence throughout the season, with the premiership marking a standout moment in his developing junior career.
