Local swimming star Mackenzie Gibbs continues to go from strength to strength, delivering sensational performances over the past fortnight in Queensland.
Over Easter, Gibbs competed at the Australian Multi Class Age Championships on the Gold Coast, claiming three gold medals.
She triumphed in the 100-metre freestyle, 100-metre backstroke,
and 50-metre freestyle on day two. The previous day, she finished
third in the 400-metre freestyle and second in the 50-metre backstroke, smashing the Victorian record in the 400 metres with a nine-second personal best.
The weekend before, Gibbs competed at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at North Kirra. Competing at her first Australian titles in the Adaptive Events, she took home an impressive eight medals. These included gold in the youth swim and wade, as well as the under-17 swim and wade. She also claimed silver in the youth 500-metre run and 70-metre sprint, and bronze in the youth flags and board events.
Gibbs represents both the Seaspray Surf Life Saving Club and Sale Swimming Club, continuing to establish herself as one of East Gippsland’s brightest sporting talents.
