Over the past two years, the Metung Lions Club has collected recyclable cans and bottles to support the Metung CFA building fund, alongside the club’s broader charitable work.
The project has been a tremendous success, with strong support from the local community. As of February 2026, the program has raised a total of $33,000.
“Given the success of the project, we believe there is an opportunity to assist the Kalimna West CFA as well,” Metung Lions president Ian Gale said.
In partnership with the Kalima West CFA, the Lions have established a new drop-off site at the CFA station in Nungurner.
“This will allow residents of Kalimna and Nungurner to drop off their recyclable cans and bottles to support their local fire brigade, rather than having to drive into Metung village,” Mr Gale said.
“All donations lodged at the Nungurner site will go directly to the Kalimna West CFA.”
