Lakes Entrance, Lake Tyers Beach and Swan Reach residents have once again shown their generosity, helping the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children’s Hospital reach a record total.
In 2026, the local communities raised an impressive $33,133, thanks to the combined efforts of volunteer tin shakers, raffle ticket sellers, and the Lakes Entrance and Toorloo Arm Fire Brigades, who organised the event. The Lakes Entrance/Lake Tyers Beach official total was $42,437.09.
The brigades extended their thanks to the local businesses and venues that supported the appeal by hosting raffles, which featured 119 prizes, and contributing donations.
One of the organisers, John Upton, said he was thrilled with the turnout of volunteers.
“We had 30 young people come down to help out on the day, manning the fire trucks and Gippsland Lakes Complete Health buses, and they collected an amazing $15,075.45,” he said.
Mr Upton added that the raffles in local venues also exceeded expectations. “They all did really well this year, way up on last year’s totals. We thank the business owners, the public, and all our CFA members who helped in so many ways.”
The contribution from these East Gippsland communities continues to make a significant difference to the Royal Children’s Hospital and its patients.
