The fish were on the bite for an action-packed round two of the Nicholson Angling Club competition schedule. Organisers reported 133 bream were entered and released.
The longest bream was caught by young Flynn McKenzie, measuring 42 centimetres, while experienced Hobie angler Ruth Beeby (183.5 centimetres) took out the longest string with five fish. Nikki Bryant, a regular winner, landed a 35-centimetre bream to claim the longest women’s bream.
Brendon Montague (41 centimetres) caught the longest bream on bait, while Richard Allen’s 72-centimetre flathead was the longest other species. Alan Aurisch landed a 56-centimetre salmon, the longest fish caught from the surf.
In the under 16 category, Hudson Kurrle caught a 41-centimetre bream, while Xander Whibley (30 centimetres) won the under 12 competition. Secret length winners were Carl Everton, Jeff Pilbeam, Spencer Hartley, Gabe Barnes-Hobson, and Flynn Snyder.
The next Nicholson Angling Club competition will be held on March 14–15. All bream are measured to the fork.
