The rain didn’t stop 117 participants from taking part in last Saturday’s Lakes Entrance parkrun.

The event was held on an alternate course, which caused minimal disruption, and runners, walkers, and joggers all completed the five-kilometre route for fitness, fun, or pleasure.

The run was led home by Leigh Peterson in an impressive 17 minutes 38 seconds, while the first female finisher, Jemma Martin, recorded a personal best of 21 minutes 48 seconds.

It was also a notable morning for newcomers, with 54 first-timers taking to the course. Twelve participants achieved personal best times, including Declan Wagstaff (20.25), Trent Baxter (24.05), Zoe Nairn (25.10), Bec Voss (26.45), Stacey Rogers (26.56), Jaxson Weeks (27.30), Ben Calleja (28.04), Craig Hoyune (29.24), Percita Dittmar (30.12), Jayde Martin (36.31), and Bev White (50.05).

Runners represented a range of local and visiting clubs, including the Westerfoldians, Lakes and District Runners, Team Veteran, Elevate Running, The Adventurers, and the Southern Peninsula Sports Club.

The Lakes Entrance parkrun departs each Saturday at 8 am from the Rotunda, welcoming both seasoned runners and newcomers.

Leigh Peterson led the Lakes Entrance parkrun home last Saturday in a slick time of 17 minutes 38 seconds. (PS)
