Lakes Entrance continued its recent improved form in the Bairnsdale Cricket Association “B” grade competition last Saturday at the Glenaladale Recreation Reserve against Lindenow South Glenaladale.
The Seagulls went into the round 17 clash against the bottom side keen to register their third win of the campaign and although the match went right to the wire, it was the Bulls who took the points.
The Bulls batted first and completed their allocated overs at 9/153, with skipper Rowan Hellison top-scoring with 73 not out. The only other batsman to reach double figures was English import William Swires, who compiled 36.
Darcy Sumner impressed with the ball for Lakes taking 3/18 from eight accurate overs, well supported by skipper James Daly who took 2/16 from his eight.
In the run chase the Seagulls worked hard to preserve wickets for a late onslaught, just falling short of pegging back the Bulls, finishing at 6/147. Daly capped off a good match with 64, while Mick Poynton remained not out on 24.
The Seagulls will conclude their season this week with an away game against Metung Swan Reach at the Swan Reach Recreation Reserve.
