Four staff members from Gippsland Lakes Complete Health have received statewide recognition, with nominations announced for the
inaugural Alliance of Rural and Regional Community Health (ARRCH) Awards.
The nominations span innovation, teamwork, values-led care and community contribution, reflecting leadership across dementia care, palliative support and aged care reform.
Winners will be announced at the ARRCH Conference in Ballarat
on March 12.
Dementia nurse consultants Amanda Crombie and Lisa Tyter are representing Gippsland in the Innovator award category, for their leadership in developing an inclusive dementia care model.
Their two-year trial program
has doubled the identification of mild cognitive impairment through improved access to geriatric assessments.
Palliative care support worker Tara Crees is nominated in the Living the Values category for her compassionate approach.
“People are individuals and they need to do it their way, and we are there to support them to live their best life for as long as they can,” Tara said.
Training and development advisor Emily Jackson is nominated in the Team Player Award for her work helping the organisation, staff, and clients adapt to the Federal Government’s Support at Home aged care reforms.
Emily often works behind the scenes, in areas like finance, budgeting, claims and IT systems, to ensure clients continue to receive the care that enables them to stay living at home.
Longtime Bairnsdale-based volunteer Helen Gottschalk, who has supported Meals on Wheels for
over 50 years, is representing Gippsland in the Community Health
Champion category.
GLCH chief executive officer Anne-Maree Kaser said the
organisation was strongly represented, after a thorough internal nomination process.
“Please join me in congratulating Helen, Emily, Tara, Amanda and Lisa on their outstanding contributions to community health,” she said.
“These awards celebrate the people and partnerships that strengthen community health across Victoria.”
