The Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance hosted a gathering of the five Rotary Clubs in East Gippsland this week.
The event brought together senior executives of the Rotary District to discuss strategies for the
next Rotary year, explore ways to boost local club recruitment, and develop ideas to support communities in need.
Present were the presidents and representatives of all clubs in Bairnsdale, Orbost and Lakes Entrance, meeting with current and future district executives.
Lakes Entrance president Bernard Abrecht said he was delighted that more than 50 guests attended to meet the district executives and offer suggestions for improving recruitment opportunities.
He also highlighted the strong collaboration between Clubs during times of crisis.
“Our five Clubs worked closely together during the 2020 Black Summer fires in East Gippsland. Now that fires have affected communities in other parts of Victoria, our Clubs are again joining forces to help those victims,” he said.
“This gathering was an opportunity to brief our District Governor and the executive team of the future on how we can make a difference in communities where bushfires have been so devastating.”
Future district executives were keen to receive feedback from
all local Clubs.
“I am keen to return to East Gippsland to talk further about strategies used by the Clubs to assist communities,” District Governor Elect
Emma Clark said.
Bernard Abrecht said all clubs welcomed further visits from District executives to update them on local projects and offer ideas that may benefit other Clubs across Victoria.
