There has been plenty of great fishing across the region lately, with reports from locals and tourists positive.

Mitchell River: Decent sized flathead are being caught around the Old Butter Factory and further down around the Silt Jetties with local prawn. Bream and tailor are active near the river mouth.

Tambo River: There have been reports of the odd mulloway hanging out in the river and in the lake system. The river mouth is also worth a shot.

Nicholson: Best spots for bream are between the Two Bridges, The Swimming Hole and around the river mouth, taking local prawn and soft plastics.

Metung: For whiting and flathead try along the town jetties, structures and Boardwalk using local prawn. The odd tailor can be found around the back beaches chasing metal lures.

Paynesville/Loch Sport: Gummy shark are being landed over on the beach along with snapper, salmon, and flathead. Out on the lakes, mullet, garfish and tailor are around, while black bream are chasing prawn chunks, hard-body and soft-plastic lures. Focus on sandy stretches in the shallows along the lake front, with white soft plastics proving especially effective. Plenty of bait fish and mussels in the lake as well.

Lakes Entrance: Try the footbridge for whiting, snapper and trevally. Bullock Island is producing great morning results, with bream, mullet, tailor and salmon taking sandworms or local prawns. Metal lures are also proving effective. Surf beaches are yielding salmon and tailor, while offshore anglers are reporting a nice mixed bag. Prawns are plentiful in the lake, particularly around Kalimna Jetty.

Lake Tyers: Flathead are active in the shallow areas, taking soft plastics.

Bream are biting best on sandworm or neutral-coloured hard-body lures. Tailor are abundant, chasing lures, and prawns are active throughout the system.

GIPPSLAND LAKES; Gaven Metherell caught some nice flathead last week on floating G2’s. Loving the surface strike in the shallows. (PS)
90 MILE BEACH: Pete Demetriou was all smiles after landing a nine foot bronze whaler over the weekend. (PS)
OFFSHORE: Oliver-James Morgan was all smiles after catching this small mako. The shark was caught west of the entrance on a Sienna 400 combo. (PS)
OFF SHORE: Bailey was extremely proud to land this magnificent marlin. (PS)
OFFSHORE: Andy and the crew from Bad Habits were delighted with this massive 128 kilogram swordfish. (PS)
