Surf Life Saving Lakes Entrance joined clubs across Victoria for the annual
Life Saving Victoria Blue Patrol Day on Sunday, promoting positive wellbeing and mental health within surf life saving and
the wider community.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of mental health issues, reduce stigma, provide education, and encourage connection to improve overall wellbeing. At Lakes Entrance, the day focused on connection and fostering a sense of belonging within the surf life saving community.
Activities began with a welcome and question box, allowing participants to discuss all things mental health and wellbeing. The team practised focused breathing exercises before hitting the surf for a cold plunge and setting up patrol duties.
The event was organised by junior captain Charlie Graham, who emphasised the importance of checking in with your inner circle, staying connected, and maintaining wellbeing. Participants were reminded that exercise, music, and laughter go a long way in boosting energy levels and mood.
