Dual Olympian and perennial national skeet champion Aislin Jones has announced she will step back from competition in 2026.
After several standout years on the international stage, Jones has made the difficult decision to prioritise completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree.
She will take on a development role while completing her Professional Year, working toward a long-term career in financial advice.
Balancing study, work, and high-performance sport at the international level proved challenging, and Jones said this move will allow her to build a more sustainable pathway for the future.
“The removal of athlete funding and the realities of juggling elite sport alongside a long-term career made this the right decision,” she said.
“This step is about longevity, stability, and putting myself in the best position moving forward.”
Despite stepping back, Jones’ long-term goal remains unchanged: to prepare for the next Olympiad in Los Angeles 2028 and beyond, combining her sporting ambitions with career sustainability.
