Last Saturday’s Lakes Entrance parkrun drew participants from across Australia, alongside the dedicated local contingent who hit the esplanade each week. The five-kilometre walk, jog, or run attracted 87 participants eager to improve fitness
or enjoy a fun morning out.
The milestone 350th edition was led home by Warwick Sinclair of the Surfers Paradise Triathlon Club in his first run on the course, recording a solid time of 19 minutes and six seconds. Lauren Hemingway (23.29) was first female home once again.
It was also fantastic to see 30 first-timers on the course, with 12 participants recording new personal bests: Bradan Holmes (23.26), Caroline Evans (25.44), Christopher Machin (26.02), Martin Cox (26.35), Pariss McKendry (26.47), Ellie Darcy (29.50), Karen Paterson (30.43), Deanne McKendry (31.10), Dayna Walliker (32.08), Jayde Martin (39.07), Karin Brown (42.02), and Bev White (52.33).
Runners represented 10 different clubs, including Australia Post Group, The Cape, Lakes and District Runners, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Everlasting Fitness Runners, Victorian Ultra Runners, BERT Squad, Darwin Runners and Walkers, and Alpine Fitness Centre.
The Lakes Entrance parkrun departs from the Rotunda at 8 am every Saturday, welcoming all ages and abilities.
