Anglers across East Gippsland are enjoying productive conditions, with fish actively biting and prawns abundant in local waters.
Lakes Entrance is yielding a variety of species. The footbridge is producing whiting, snapper and trevally, while Bullock Island has been delivering bream, mullet, tailor and salmon in the mornings on sandworms or local prawns. Metal lures are also working well. Surf beaches continue to produce salmon and tailor, and offshore anglers are reporting a mixed bag. Prawns remain plentiful, especially around Kalimna Jetty.
Lake Tyers is offering flathead in shallow areas, with soft plastics proving effective.
Bream are responding best to sandworms or neutral-coloured hard-body lures, and tailor are chasing lures in good numbers. Prawns are active throughout the system.
Metung anglers can target whiting and flathead along the town jetties, structures and the Boardwalk using local prawns. Tailor are occasionally found around the back beaches, attracted to metal lures.
With plenty of bites and prawns on offer, now is a great time to get out on East Gippsland’s waterways.
