Toorloo Arm Primary School brought the excitement of the Winter Olympics to the classroom last week, with foundation to grade two students taking part in a fun-filled Mini Olympics.
The event featured creative winter-themed activities, including table-top curling, sock figure skating and box bobsledding. Students cheered each other on as they competed in teams, showing great sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the week.
The Mini Olympics also provided a practical way to incorporate maths into learning. Students practised tallying results, creating graphs and interpreting data based on their scores in each event. By combining physical activity with classroom skills, the program helped students see how maths can be applied in real-life situations.
Teachers praised the students for working together, encouraging one another, and confidently applying their maths knowledge. The Mini Olympics was a resounding success for
the school.
