Competition remained strong at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club last week, with several players producing impressive rounds across the midweek events.
Mark Campisi continued his strong recent form on Thursday, taking out both the “B” grade and overall honours in the medley stableford with an excellent 40 points.
Big-hitting Brett Dostine claimed “A” grade with 38 points on countback from Robert Sperring, who was looking to build on recent success, while Allan Lawson made the most of the cooler early conditions to secure “C” grade with 34 points. Barry Brand also enjoyed a highlight on the day, carding another eagle.
Wednesday’s medley stableford proved highly competitive, with Lori Murray winning “B” grade and the overall event on countback from “A” grade winner and reigning club champion Renee Percival, who posted another consistent round.
Tuesday’s “Young and the Rest of Us” event was tightly contested, with Robyn Downing edging out Karen Nicholas in a close finish.
The club has also announced plans to run free golf clinics for female beginners aged 16 and over on Mondays, with starting dates and times to be confirmed.
All equipment will be supplied, and the sessions will be led by local member and former club captain Norm Backman, a low-handicap golfer known for his willingness to share technical knowledge of the game.
