Lakes Entrance’s midweek pennant hopes took a hit last Tuesday, with ladder leader Lakes Entrance 2 going down narrowly to Paynesville in the qualifying final at the Lakes Entrance Bowling Club.
In a see-sawing contest, Paynesville edged out the home side 62-59, with David Hocking, Jacinta Wilson, Peter Spark, and Samuel Berlingeri the only winners for Lakes, taking their rink 25-18.
Lakes Entrance 3 now faces Bairnsdale 2 for a second chance at Paynesville in the Eastern Conference grand final.
In division three, Lakes Entrance 4 will also need the long route to the grand final after a 56-33 loss to Paynesville 2, with Max Towan, Ernie Smith, Margo Short, and
Faye Cannizzaro halving their rink 22-22. They must overcome Bairnsdale 4 to progress.
The division one side has this week off and will face Sale in the preliminary final on February 24, giving the reigning champions a nervous wait.
