East Gippsland’s music scene is set for a first this Friday, with the debut of a solar-powered light and sound system purchased by the Nowa Nowa Community
Development Group.
The system, previously hired for events such as October’s sold-out SolarFolk Festival, will make its inaugural appearance at Nowa Nowa Live, hosting Sunday Lemonade with support from Jack Raymond at the Nowa Nowa Public Hall from 6.30pm.
Nowa Nowa Live operates under
the Visitor Economy Innovation Working Group, part of the Victorian Government’s Forestry Transition Program. The program aims to support long-term employment and industry diversification in communities affected by the
end of logging.
Both acts are returning to Nowa Nowa after earning praise at last year’s SolarFolk Festival. With the community-owned event setup, Nowa Nowa Live now has the capability to hold outdoor events in the town’s tree-encircled spaces.
Sunday Lemonade, an energetic indie folk and roots duo from NSW, headline the event. The pair have toured nationally and internationally, won ‘People’s Choice’ at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and supported acts including 19-Twenty, The Rubens, Sons of the East, and Little Quirks. Opening the show is Jack Raymond, a mountain roots artist from Harrietville, whose folk and blues-infused storytelling has taken him to festivals such as The Kiama Blues Festival and Gympie Music Muster. He has also been a finalist in the Australian Busking Championships and supported acts including Kim Churchill
and Riley Pearce.
To keep the event family-friendly and affordable, attendees are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks. Tickets are available via Humanitix and Nowa Nowa Live’s Facebook page.
The show starts at 6.30pm
this Friday, 20 February 2026, at Nowa Nowa Public Hall, 4 Hall Road, Nowa Nowa.
