The Lakes Entrance Hall Committee hosted a successful Art and Craft De-stash and Clearance Market over the weekend, attracting strong public support for the new community initiative.
Every corner of the hall and foyer was filled with stallholders offering a wide variety of products at bargain prices, drawing enthusiastic crowds. Organiser Maria Armistead said shoppers were queued at the door before opening, highlighting the community’s excitement for the event.
Maria thanked the Hall Committee, their partners, and the Gippsland Lakes Lionesses, who ran the kitchen serving Devonshire Teas to visitors.
“There is so much planning and hard work by dedicated community members who love doing things for our hall and Lakes Entrance,” she said.
The market was held to raise funds for the Mechanic’s Hall, which is managed by a small group of local volunteers. The committee is encouraging more community members to join and help maintain the hall.
“Many think the East Gippsland Shire runs the hall but this is not so,” Maria said.
“It is our small committee—let’s keep it in the hands of our community.”
