Another big race day was held on Sunday at the Metung Yacht Club, featuring heat two of the three-race PB Lawrence Trophy, race seven of the Club Championship series, and race seven of the Etchells scratch series.
The event attracted 10 starters, with six boats in division two starting at 2pm, and four Etchells in division one beginning at 2.15pm. Racing took place on course seven in Bancroft Bay, using the club start/finish, over a 1.2-nautical-mile leeward/windward reach with three returns on a 91-degree course axis. Winds ranged from 12 to 14 knots.
The first boat across the line was Beagle, a division two entry, crewed by Simon Bazeley (helm), Ed Smith, Bruce Crombie and Amy Smithon. Second across, and first in division one, was Leading Edge, helmed by Fred Haes with Will Crooke and Michael Brown.
In the Club Championship race and PB Lawrence Trophy heat, John Macdonald sailing single-handed in Maggie took first place, followed by Etchellente in second and New Wave II in third.
Leading Edge claimed first in the Etchells scratch series, finishing ahead of Elusive and Etchellente.
