The 2026 Reel It In Lake Tyers and Gippsland Lakes Flathead Challenge delivered a huge weekend of competition, with 48 teams contesting the popular annual event.
This year produced the biggest scores in the event’s history, with AA Elite opening a commanding lead on Saturday before being overhauled on Sunday by fast-finishing teams Captain Fishy and No Idea.
No Idea briefly set a new tournament record with a score of 1498, only for Captain Fishy to eclipse it with a winning total of 1643 to claim the title.
AA Elite finished third with 1468, followed by Captain and Cook (1343) and Nothin’ Flash (1321) to round out the top five after two days of intense competition.
The quality of fish reflected the strong conditions, with eight flathead over 80 centimetres landed on Saturday.
Sunday produced five more over 80cm, including two impressive fish exceeding 90cm.
The tournament will be remembered for its record-breaking scores and standout performances, with Captain Fishy’s late surge securing a well-deserved overall victory.
