The recent Golden Beach Australia Day Fishing Carnival was a resounding success, attracting interest from adults and children.
Organisers were delighted to receive 287 entries (231 adults and 56 children), of which 281 fished from the beach, four went out in a tinny and two were on paddle boards.
Plenty of fish were landed , highlighted by 202 flathead, 43 salmon, 29 gummies, one skinfish and 12 species in the other categories.
The heaviest gummy shark was caught by Danny Casili, a well grown 15.55 kilograms.
Peter Sallims caught the largest flathead, David Buntine the heaviest salmon and the other species went to Andrew Ford for his snapper.
In the children’s categories the winners were Ollie Martin (gummy shark), Bayden Williams (flathead), Bodie Roper (salmon) and Tyson Pride (snapper).
