Bairnsdale audiences are in for a rare cultural experience on Saturday, February 7 at 7.30pm, when Tibetan-Australian musician Tenzin Choegyal performs Whispering Sky at The
Forge Theatre.
Choegyal’s music offers far more than entertainment. Born into a refugee family and now recognised internationally, he is a custodian of Tibetan musical tradition, blending ancient sounds with contemporary performance. Using traditional instruments such as the dranyen and lingbu, alongside his emotive voice, Choegyal creates music that feels timeless while addressing themes of exile, compassion, and humanity’s relationship with the natural world.
This is music that connects people across borders, beliefs, and backgrounds
You don’t need to understand Tibetan language or history to feel its impact — it speaks directly to shared human experiences of loss, resilience, and the search for belonging.
The concert is significant for regional communities like East Gippsland, which are often excluded from major cultural events. The Forge Theatre continues its commitment to bringing world-class artists to local audiences, proving that meaningful artistic experiences belong outside metropolitan centres.
Choegyal’s performance is more than a night out; it’s an opportunity to listen deeply, engage with a living culture, and support artistic exchange that enriches regional life.
Tickets are available now. Audiences are encouraged to buy a ticket, bring a friend, and experience an evening where music becomes a bridge in a world often divided by words.
