With a long weekend and plenty of holidaymakers still in town, last Saturday’s Lakes Entrance parkrun attracted a strong turnout of 117 participants.
Runners, joggers and walkers took to the Esplanade for the five-kilometre course, with some chasing fitness goals and others simply enjoying the event.
The field was led home by Flynn Addicott, who, at just his second attempt on the course, recorded an impressive time of 16 minutes 33 seconds. His performance was within striking distance of the course record of 16.06, jointly held by Eric Ueda and Xavier Chapman.
Charlie Darcy was the first female finisher, crossing the line in 20:54.
The event welcomed 35 first-time participants and saw a strong spread of performances, with runners representing 14 different clubs. Several personal bests were recorded, including Jack Neil (19:34), Tim Kefford (20.19), Stewart Harper (20.57), Jaxon Osmand (21.00), Joe Hurley (21.13), Trent Clarke (22.14), Mathew Evans (23.50), Tracey Harper (23.52), Annmarie Darcy (24.16), Fergus Hurley (24.37), Caroline Evans (25.46), Jess Tran (25.53), Kelly Ford (31.25), Debbie Cupitt (38.32), Janis Bourke (39.45) and Meagan Florence (48.23).
