It’s been another great week on the water for East Gippsland fishers, with plenty of bream, flathead and prawns being caught across the region. From lakes and estuaries to offshore waters, anglers are finding success using a mix of baits and lures, making it the perfect time to cast a line.
Lakes Entrance: Bream are abundant around the lakes, with sandworm, prawns
or even chicken producing solid results. Offshore, anglers are catching flathead, whiting, kingfish and gummy shark. There is still some weed in the water, but it is gradually clearing.
Lake Tyers: Good-sized flathead, bream and estuary perch are being caught throughout the system. Lake Tyers could also become a hotspot for prawns once they start running in the warmer months ahead.
Metung: Flathead, bream, trevally and salmon are being caught around local structures and town jetties, taking plastics and lures.
