This holiday season marked the 11th year of Chants Carnival on the foreshore and its success was as good, if not better, than any other year.
Les Chant reported that the attraction is growing stronger with every visit.
“The whole town is really looking great with the new playground, the Aqua Park, and the town’s gardens, and we like to compliment that,” Les said.
“We see families coming back again and again — our return trade is phenomenal. The truth is, 1000 people say they wouldn’t call in if it wasn’t for the carnival; they would keep heading up north. But then they realise there is lots to do here.”
Chants are proud of their history of giving back to the community and supporting local businesses while they are in town.
“We are the major sponsor for the New Year’s Eve event, donating $10,000 for the fireworks. We also provide Nippers with free tickets for a night at the carnival, and hosted 150 kids from Aftercare, running the carnival for them at cost price. We support community clubs such as the football club and the Beach Netball event,” Les said.
“We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of the carnival area and keeping it family safe.”
Chants has some exciting new attractions on order, including an 80-metre Drop Tower, which will be available in the 2027–28 season.
“This year we introduced the Candy Swing, new games trailers, and brand-new slides. The Cha Cha will be back next summer after a refurbishment,” Les said.
Last Monday evening was the final night in Lakes Entrance before the carnival heads to Fountain Gate for three weekends in February.
From there, it will travel to various locations across South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
