Spectators and competitors are advised that the lawn mower racing event at Salt Creek, near Johnsonville, scheduled for this Sunday has been postponed until Saturday, March 28 due to expected hot weather. The event, part of the Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Racing Association (AROLMRA) calendar, will feature modified mowers across A, B, C and Junior classes, plus a standard mower round giving locals a chance to compete. Each class races in four rounds of heats and a final, promising plenty of action for fans of all ages.
Safety remains a priority: participants must remove cutting decks, check brakes and cut-offs, and wear protective gear.
The community-focused event also offers children’s activities, raffles, a colouring competition, and a CFA-run canteen, with proceeds supporting the Johnsonville Fire Brigade. Lawn mower racing, born in Victoria in 1988, has grown into a national grassroots sport combining speed, family fun, and fundraising. This March, Johnsonville will be the place to be for high-octane entertainment and a uniquely Australian experience.Gates will open at 9am on Saturday, March 28, with a gold coin entry, and racing will kick off at 10 am on Harmans Road.
